Know anything about the card game Chips and Spades?

A old friend had a homemade board (piece of felt) divided into 12 (I think) squares. Each square has the name of a card or set of cards. At the beginning of the game, you put a penny in each square. All the cards are dealt and are played in order, i.e., someone puts down the opening card (say a 10 of spades). The next person plays the Jack of spades and so on.
